Andy the Ref
11th March 2014
ANDY Davies will be the whistle-blower when Argyle take to the field at Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night.
Mr Davies, from Hampshire, will be taking charge of Argyle for the fifth time - and we have fared very well in the previous four. This will be the third time he has reffed us this season; the first two having resulted in victories.Andy was the ref when we beat Bristol Rovers 1-0 in September, when Reuben Reid scored the winning goal. Two players were booked that day, namely Conor Hourihane and John-Joe O'Toole. Davies was also in charge when Argyle defeated Oxford United on Boxing Day. Argyle emerged 3-2 winners on the day, with Davies issuing seven yellow cards. Four of those were to Pilgrims; Caolan Lavery, Andres Gurrieri, Max Blanchard and Ben Purrington were all cautioned.
In previous seasons, Andy has presided over a 0-0 home draw with Bradford and a 3-2 win over Northampton, also at Home Park.
This season, the most eye-catching stat about Mr Davies is that he has awarded ten penalties in his 21 games this season. They include one for Argyle in the aforementioned game against Oxford, which Reid converted. He has sent of three players, all for two bookable offences. He has shown 76 yellow cards.
