Newport County u18 1 Plymouth Argyle 3

ARGYLE'S youngsters had more success on the road as they returned from Wales with all three points from this South West Counties Youth League encounter at Newport.

The young Pilgrims hit their Welsh hosts with a two-goal salvo inside the opening eight minutes with Aaron Bentley notching the first with a header from River Allen's sixth minute free kick.

Allen then provided the pass for Ethan Stark to hit a crisp drive, from a narrow angle, that flew across the home goalkeeper and inside the far post.

The home side hit back, from the penalty spot, four minutes later after the Argyle 'keeper Andrew Hannah had harshly been adjudged to have brought down Cedric Botombo for Joe Wood to convert his spot-kick.

Hannah then made a fine save from Ward but it was Argyle who were to dominate proceedings with Bentley and Nathan Summers both going close to adding to their tally.

The second half carried on in the same vein with Stark forcing a good save out of the Newport 'keeper and Jake Miller unlucky to see his effort cleared off the line.

It was not until five minutes from time that the Greens made the points safe as Summers scored from the penalty spot after Solomon Wheatley had been brought down in the area by home 'keeper Luke Harries.

Argyle: Andrew Hannah, Mason Hughes, Nathan Summers, Aaron Bentley, Tom Moxham, River Allen, Will Sargent, River Allen, Solomon Wheatley, Callum Hall, Joshua Hutchinson, Ethan Stark.
