Argyle Ladies 2 Lewes 2
6th October 2014
ARGYLE Ladies fought back from a two-goal deficit against Lewes Ladies, to gain a draw at Haye Road on Sunday.
An own goal and a first for Ellana Moseley in Argyle colours sealed an unlikely draw.In a disappointing first half performance Argyle went behind in the 25th minute when they failed to clear a corner which was scrambled in by Charlotte Bennett at the far post.
Two minutes later Lewes doubled their lead when the same player lobbed the ball into the net after Argyle keeper Phillips had slipped and lost her footing.
Against the run of play Argyle got back in the game in the 62nd minute after they won a free kick midway in the Lewes half. The ball was whipped in by Perrett and with the Lewes defence retreating it struck a defenders head and into the back of the net.
This finally woke Argyle up and they began to take more of a control on the game. They got their reward in the 88th minute from a corner on the left. The ball was put in by Rose which the Lewes keeper could only parry, straight onto the head of Moseley who nodded it in.
Argyle nearly snatched all three points in stoppage time when a cross from Wells on the right nearly caught out the Lewes keeper who nearly dropped the ball over the line.
