Oxford U18 4 Argyle 2
16th October 2014
ARGYLE'S youngsters suffered their first defeat in five games in the Football League Youth Alliance Southern Conference.
Argyle were without top scorer Louis Rooney, who was away on international duty with the Northern Ireland u-19s, and influential midfielder Jake Miller, who was suspended. This led to Academy Manager Kevin Hodges starting with three under-16's and introducing two more in the second half.Oxford took an early lead through Adriel George but back came Argyle and good work from Callum Hall gave Jason Vincent the chance to fire the visitors level.
George had restored the home side's lead before good work on the left flank by Alex Fletcher sled to Jamil Roberts converting his cross.
The home side restored their lead, 15 minutes from time, through Josh Williams and it was a late penalty from Jordan James that completed the scoring..
Argyle's under-16s had better luck as they drew 1-1 with Oxford at Tavistock.
Argyle: Andrew Hannah, Mason Hughes, Owen Jones, Tom Moxham, Liam Knowles, Will Sargent, Jack Calver (Alex Battle 68), Ryan Lane (Jamil Roberts 55), Sam Ryan (Alex Fletcher 45), Callum Hall, Jason Vincent.
