Banged Up Ben

BEN Purrington faces a spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed that he broke his wrist in several places during Saturday’s defeat at Accrington.

The 18-year-old Pilgrims’ defender was taken to a local hospital after sustaining the injury when he fell awkwardly in the later stages of the game.

He remained in Lancashire with Argyle chief executive Martyn Starnes after the game while he had his right wrist x-rayed, and doctors subsequently confirmed it was broken.

He then returned home with Martyn and is being assessed by an upper limb medical specialist this week, to determine the extent of the injury and a rehabilitation programme.
