Bristol Rovers U18 0 Argyle 1

ARGYLE'S youngsters bounced back from last weekend's disappointing defeat, by league leaders Swindon, to return to their winning ways in the Football League Youth Alliance southern section.

Academy Manager Kevin Hodges was pleased with both the result and the performance.

"It was a good response after last weeks game," said Kevin. "We played well in the first half only to come under pressure in the latter stages of the second period but we defended well and hit back on the break."

The only goal of the game came on 22 minutes when the ball was played into the Pirates box where Ben Steer challenged the home goalkeeper. His challenge was adjudged to be a fair one and the ball ran loose for Northern Ireland U19 International Louis Rooney to tap home his third goal of the season.

Rovers put the Pilgrims under heavy pressure in the second half but the best chances fell to Argyle full-back Jamil Roberts and Rooney, who narrowly failed to convert.

Argyle: Andrew Hannah, Billy Palfrey (Owen Jones 75), Jordan Bentley, Tom Moxham, Jamil Roberts,Will Sargent, Jack Calver, Ben Steer, Louis Rooney, Jake Miller (Callum Hall 68), Jason Vincent (Alex Fletcher 81).
