Getting Back In The Pool

ARGYLE face Sky Bet League 2 strugglers Hartlepool United this Saturday afternoon with manager John Sheridan determined to use the advantage of home support to secure a vital three points.

“We’re at home and I expect us to win the game,” he said. “It will be a tricky game and we’re under pressure. We’ve lost our last two and I can’t just say this is going to be an easy game and every team is so evenly matched.

“We’ve just got to go out and win games. We’ve got good enough players to do it and I think that we’re a good enough team to do well in this division. So, whatever team I put out will try and win us the game. It’s just about getting that bit of belief and consistency in your game.”

Sheridan was quick to reassure concerned Pilgrims fans that the trio of Lewis Alessandra, Marvin Morgan and Dominic Blizzard, who missed Tuesday evening’s disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wycombe Wanderers, have all trained this week ahead of Saturday’s game.

“[Lewis Alessandra] is okay,” said John at his weekly Thursday Press briefing. “I think he was suffering from just one of those 24 hour viruses or flu, but he’s trained this morning and everything’s fine. Marvin’s back this morning and Dom’s also trained this morning, so they’ll all come back in and be in contention to feature this Saturday.”

A win and three points this weekend would cement Argyle’s position in the top half of the table while the Pool, a side languishing on the fringes of relegation, are desperate to move on from a recent 5-1 thrashing at Northampton and secure only their second away win of the season.
