Andy in Charge

SATURDAY'S referee, when Argyle entertain Newport County at Home Park, is Andy Davies.

Andy's last trip to Plymouth was on December 28, when he sent off Aaron Bentley in Argyle's 2-1 defeat to Oxford United. He also cautioned Ollie Norburn, Lewis Alessandra and Bobby Reid.

Prior to the Oxford game, Andy was somewhat of a lucky omen. A couple of months earlier, Andy had taken charge of Argyle's home game against Cheltenham. He cautioned two visiting players but no Pilgrims, in a game Argyle won 3-0.

In the 2013-14 season, Argyle won all three games that Davies refereed - 1-0 at home to Bristol Rovers, 3-2 at Oxford United on Boxing Day, and a 1-0 win at Wycombe. The previous season he was in the middle when we beat Northampton 3-2 (remember Curtis Nelson coming on as a striker and scoring?) and a 0-0 home draw with Bradford City.

Andy has refereed three games so far this season, issuing nine yellow cards and no reds. Last season he showed 105 yellows in 30 games, with seven reds.
