Argyle v Carlisle - Pilgrim Punting

THEY say a week is a long time in football.

Last Tuesday night, Argyle hosted Gillingham in the Capital One Cup, with the Pilgrims narrowly defeated as the Gills scored two late goals to progress in the cup. Saturday's defeat to Pompey has left Derek Adams' men eager to return to winning ways this Tuesday night as Argyle will welcome visitors Carlisle United.

Argyle are 10/11 with league sponsors Sky Bet to grab the three points, which would take the Pilgrims to six league points. Carlisle are 3/1 to take the points back to Cumbria, and you can get odds of 12/5 for a draw.

Gregg Wylde's goal on Saturday was his second of the season and he is 4/1 to score in 90 mins against Carlisle. Despite scoring 18 league goals last season, Reuben Reid is yet to open his scoring tally this campaign, and is 7/4 to open his account against the Cumbrians. Last Tuesday night Craig Tanner scored a marvellous volley against Gillingham for Argyle, and he is priced at 2/1 to score in 90 mins.

Jabo Ibehre, one of Carlisle's new boys, has scored an impressive six goals in three games this season and is 9/4 to score in 90 minutes, or 16/1 for a brace.

Three of Argyle's four goals this season have come in the second-half, and for Argyle to score the last goal of the game you can get odds of 4/6.

Carlisle's last game saw five goals go in after 45 minutes, with the Cumbrians 3-2 down against Cambridge United at half-time. The game finished in a 4-4 draw. You can get 2/1 for there to be over 1.5 goals at half-time, or evens on over 2.5 goals at full-time.

Last season, when Carlisle came to Argyle they lost 1-0, and when Argyle travelled to Carlisle last season they lost 2-0. Both away sides losing without scoring - so a wise bet may be Argyle to win to nil, at 21/10.
