Kevin in Charge
11th August 2015
THE referee for our Capital One Cup home tie against Gillingham will be Kevin Johnson from Somerset.
Johnson officiated two Argyle games last season, as he was the man in the middle for the games against Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon at Home Park, both of which ended as 1-1 draws.
The 38-year-old whistler awarded Argyle a last-gasp penalty against Stevenage following a handball by a Boro defender, with Deane Smalley dispatching the spot-kick in the 98th minute in front of the Devonport End.
In his 28 games that he took charge of last season, Johnson showed 95 yellow cards, whilst also showing five red cards.
Johnson started officiating Conference games in 2008, but a persistent calf injury caused him trouble for two years from 2010 to 2012. He recovered from this to start refereeing Football League games from the start of last season, with the 1-1 draw against Stevenage at Home Park in August last year his third at this level.
