Final Third Development Game - Argyle 3 Newport 4
1st December 2015
FOUR goals from Aaron Collins were enough for Newport to emerge victorious in an entertaining development fixture at Home Park.
The 18-year-old Wales youth international was the difference in a game in which the lead changed hands many times.Argyle took the lead on 38 minutes when industrious work by Ryan Lane gave Louis Rooney the chance to convert his angled run into the opening goal.
Collins equalised shortly before half-time, heading in Scott Barrow's right-wing corner, and then scored just seconds after the restart to put the Exiles in front.
Argyle levelled from the spot, with Tyler Harvey scoring a penalty that he himself had won. Rooney and Ryan Brunt then combined for Deane Smalley to nudge home to put Argyle back in the lead.
Collins, though, had more in, first striking powerfully across James Bittner with an excellent left-footed effort, then hitting a deflected effort from just inside the area that found its way into the back of the net, just two minutes from time.
Argyle: James Bittner; Billy Palfrey, Aaron Bentley, Owen Jones (Jordan Bentley), Ben Purrington; Dan Rooney (Aaron Taylor), Ryan Lane; Louis Rooney, Tyler Harvey, Deane Smalley (Jason Vincent); Ryan Brunt.
