Bournemouth U18 2 Argyle U18 2
18th February 2015
THE meeting of the South West Conference's top two sides once again ended in a 2-2 draw as both maintained their unbeaten start to life in Merit League One.
Argyle had to twice come from behind in this challenging game in which the Cherries started well, pushing their visitors on to the back foot in the early stages. The Pilgrims came back into the game with Jamil Roberts, Jason Vincent and Louis Rooney all having efforts blocked in a goalmouth scramble before Ryan Lane had two good efforts saved by the home 'keeper.
It was slightly against the run of play that the home side took a 35th minute lead, from a corner, but Argyle hit back with Vincent sending Rooney down the right to cut inside and score with an angled drive into the far corner on 43 minutes.
Argyle failed to maintain their stranglehold on the game after the break after Bournemouth had restored their lead on 46 minutes. Lane was cheaply dispossessed just inside his half for the home side to break forward and when Will Sargent failed to clear a ball in to the box the Cherries were able to cash in.
Kevin Hodges' side were now under the cosh for a period but once again came back strongly, deservedly equalising on 65 minutes, Lane's 30 yard effort was blocked by the 'keeper for Vincent to tap home the loose ball.
Argyle were now in the ascendency, creating several chances to win the game but for once they failed to put them away.
Argyle: Cory Harvey, Billy Palfrey, Jamil Roberts, Will Sargent, Owen Jones, Tom Moxham (Liam Knowles 62), Aaron Taylor (Ben Steer 57), Callum Hall, Jason Vincent, Louis Rooney (Alex Fletcher 80), Ryan Lane.
