Yellow River

ARGYLE midfielder River Allen is joining Gosport Borough on a month’s loan.

The 19-year-old first-year professional, who made his first-team debut for the Pilgrims this season, will be with the Vanarama Conference South side until March 14.

River, a former student at Marine Academy, joined Argyle’s Centre of Excellence in October 2006 as an 11-year old. After seven years at Home Park, he signed his first professional contract in May last year.

He made his senior debut as an extra-time substitute against Leyton Orient in this season’s 3-3 Capital One Cup draw and scored the Pilgrims’ first goal in our unsuccessful penalty shoot-out.

He followed that with a Sky Bet League 2 debut, again as substitute, in our 3-0 Devon Expressway Derby victory against Exeter City, and went on to make two further league appearances from the bench.

Hampshire-based Gosport are currently seventh in the Conference South, 12 points below leaders Borehamwood.
