Futsal Open Evening
19th January 2015
ARGYLE Futsal Scholars are flying high in all national leagues as we enter the new year...
...and are on course to reach the national finals for a third consecutive year. We are hoping for a good run in the Futsal FA Cup having been drawn against Leicester City. With 4 teams competing in the league, which is sponsored by Sky Sports and features on Soccer AM, the scholars are relishing the challenge of playing Futsal at the highest level. Five Argyle players have recently been selected to take part in the England set up and train at the Centre of Excellence.
The scholars are based at Carn Brea Leisure Centre in Pool, Cornwall and are a part of the unique, fully-funded educational course which gives 16- to 18-year-olds a chance to qualify outside the traditional school or college setting.
Studying and training in the exclusive environment of a sports centre with state-of-the-art classroom and conference facilities means that scholars are able to play and train professionally and then compete at the highest level whilst preparing for higher education or employment once they have graduated.
Scholars will study for a B-tech Level 3 extended diploma in sport whilst representing Argyle in a competitive league competition against teams including Southampton, Cardiff, and Exeter City.
The next Open evening will be held at Carn Brea Leisure Centre on Tuesday, January 27 at 5.30pm. We are currently taking the names of students (Year 11) that may be interested in joining September 2015.
