JOHN Sheridan is sure that at least one new Argyle loan signing will be available for selection against Southend United.
With the January transfer window now firmly open, the Pilgrims’ boss has been hard at work looking to secure the services of players that can help aid the Argyle cause on a temporary basis. The key areas Sheridan is looking to strengthen are in central defence and in attack, with the announcement of his first signing expected to be made on Friday.
“The central defender will be there for this weekend,” said John.
“I am hoping to have at least one involved for Saturday. I am trying to bring another player in – I am just waiting for phone calls now.”
Indeed, John has not ruled out the possibility of two new players being named in the squad for the game against the Shrimpers, and he will be keeping his phone close by to push through any potential deals in the coming hours and days.
He said: “Hopefully something will happen, and we will have at least one involved for Saturday.
“I think it is just important that we strengthen and keep all areas strong. Hopefully that will happen.
“I have constantly been on the phone to people and other clubs regarding players, so I am just waiting on one or two phone calls now, and hopefully everything will get sorted.
“Definitely, there will be one tomorrow, and a good possibility of two.”
Home Park will also be welcoming back defender Jamie Richards shortly, following his loan spell at Linfield under the management of former Argyle striker Warren Feeney
“Jamie’s going to come back," said John. "I don’t think Linfield are going to do anything regarding Jamie.
“Jamie will join us again and I think it was just a bit of a change of mind. Feeno only a month ago was willing to take him, but I think that things have picked up and they have got good results without Jamie in the team, so I think it’s just a change of mind.”
