Road Test

AHEAD of an away trip to fellow promotion contenders Southend United, John Sheridan is eager to improve Argyle’s away results to keep in the promotion conversation.

The Greens’ difficult times on their travels continued at Bootham Crescent last time out, as Sheridan’s side were unable to turn an advantage in number into a victory, drawing 0-0 with York City.

Sheridan’s team have a chance to not only pick up three rare points on the road against the Shrimpers in their Sky Bet League 2 game, but also a chance to overtake another team in the top seven. In the manager’s mind then, there is no better time or place to improve their away results.

“I want us to be a better team and consistently play well,” said John.

“Our home form has been very good, but with our away form: if we can pick up points and be a bit more ruthless, we possibly could have had more points.

“There is no point going back and talking about it. We have got to push on, because if we can pick up points away from home we know are strong at home, and confident of winning games at home.

“The more points we pick up away from home, the more it makes life a little bit easier.”
