All Adds Up

AFTER a good opening workout in the 4-2 win at Elburton Villa on Tuesday...

...Derek Adams' Argyle head to Bideford this Saturday for their second of six pre-season tests - and the boss will hope to face future games with a few more players at his disposal.

Lee Cox and Luke McCormick both sat out the Elburton victory because of injury, but are improving. "They're not too far away from returning to full fitness," confirmed the manager.

Longer term injuries prospects Reuben Reid and Deane Smalley are not going to be lacing up boots as early as this weekend, but Adams has not ruled out the former getting some game time before the season starts.

"We are working with [Reuben] to get his fitness levels up. We are hopeful that he can get some game time in the pre-season games so we can get him up to speed." Smalley, though, remains on course to return to action around the end of the calendar year.

A further option in bulking up the squad will be to dabble in the loan market. Derek hinted at having some targets in mind, but knows he will need to be patient. He said: "We are just pushing to have them come here because we will be able to give them game time. It's just a waiting game; it might be that it's sooner, or it might be that it's later."
