Greens on Green
9th July 2015
THE Green Army’s final chance to see Argyle’s pre-season preparations will be a Westcountry derby against Forest Green Rovers.
Derek Adams and his new-look squad will head to The New Lawn on Friday, July 31 to take on the Vanarama National League side. Adrian Pennock’s fifth-place finish last season was the highest in the club’s 40-year history, securing a place in the play-offs before losing 3-0 on aggregate in the semi-final to Bristol Rovers, who were eventually promoted.
Following run-outs against Elburton Villa, Bideford AFC, Bath City and Torquay United and a home friendly on Saturday, July 25, the Pilgrims’ summer fitness test will be nearing its end, and Adams will take a last look at his squad in action before choosing his team for the season opener against AFC Wimbledon eight days later.
The game will certainly be one for the Green Army 'completists' - few will have made the journey for a reserve game away to Forest Green in September 1996, which is the only record we have of playing against Rovers. Richard Logan and Dominic Richardson were on target that day in a 2-1 victory for Argyle.
Kick-off on July 31 will be at 7.30pm, with tickets priced at £11 for adults. Entry for over 65s will cost £9, whilst 16-22 year-olds can get in for £5. Juniors under 16 will cost £3, and admission for under 10s will be free of charge.
