Tavistock 0 Argyle Development XI 8
22nd July 2015
REUBEN Reid got his first goals since returning from injury with a hat-trick for an Argyle development side who notched up a hatful of goals at Tavistock.
His strike partner Louis Rooney bagged three goals too, with Ryan Lane's penalty and a Ben Steer goal helping the Pilgrims team - a combination of under 18s and professional players - to a convincing win.
Reid made a substitute appearance in Argyle's first team's 3-3 draw at Bath City 24 hours previous, while Rooney, Lane, Lee Cox, Ben Purrington, Callum Hall and Cory Harvey had all traveled to Twerton Park without seeing action. They all lined up from the the start at Langsford Park, and after just one goal was scored in the first period, Argyle turned on the style after the break to bang in an octet of goals. It could have been more had Rooney not grabbed a fourth from the penalty spot.
First team coach Paul Wotton declared himself pleased with the outing: "The experienced pros did a good job of bringing the younger lads on, showing a great attitude. Everyone got some minutes into their legs. It was a good workout and a good result."
Argyle: Cory Harvey; Billy Palfrey, Jordan Bentley, Owen Jones, Ben Purrington (Liam Knowles, 85); Callum Hall, Lee Cox (Josh Richards, 85) Ben Steer, Ryan Lane; Reuben Reid (Alex Battle, 75), Louis Rooney.
