If they were a type of cake they would be... A Black Forest gateau - both the cake and team were big in the 1980s. John Still built the foundations of the most recent slice of the cake when he joined in 2013, transforming the playing and coaching staff. A rich taste on the inside; Luton Town were the first English Football League club to adopt the living wage for their staff. They were cooking with gas last season until they flopped at the last minute, missing out on the play-offs. Some big toppings have been added this year, and only time will tell if they will come out as the perfect cake or if they crumble under pressure.
