Charles in the Middle

CHARLES Breakspear will referee Argyle's home fixture against play-off rivals Newport County.

The last time Charles refereed Argyle was against Burton in November. Charles awarded a Pilgrim penalty when Reuben Reid was brought down in the box, and Argyle's top goal-scorer duly converted to level the scores in a match that finished 1-1.

Prior to that match Charles officiated at Home Park in Argyle's 4-0 defeat to York City, sending off Neal Trotman after just 11 minutes of play.

Charles also managed Argyle's 3-1 away victory at Cheltenham in August 2013.

Charles had a successful season in 2012-13 refereeing in the Blue Square Premier, and has spent the last two seasons predominantly officiating in Sky Bet Leagues 1 and League 2.

In the 25 matches Charles has taken control of this season he has dished out 86 yellows and nine reds.

Charles' assistants on Saturday will be William Bull and Mark Derrien, and Andrew Quin will be his fourth official.
