Wary Good

REUBEN Reid returned to action in Argyle’s 2-0 victory against Northampton Town...

...and John Sheridan praised his striker’s ability to have an effect on the game whilst not at full fitness.

Argyle’s leading goalscorer was unable to find the net in his return to the squad against the Cobblers, but it is hard to see as a simple coincidence the fact that the Greens have lost all three games when Reuben has not played a part in this season - and that his return saw the Greens themselves return to winning ways.

Reuben watched on as goals from Anthony O’Connor and Lewis Alessandra made sure Argyle secured a much-needed 2-0 Sky Bet League 2 victory over promotion rivals Northampton Town, and Sheridan believes the striker’s mere presence on the field aided his team towards victory.

“The good thing about Reuben is that the opposition are always wary of him," said John. "That’s what he gives us.

“Unfortunately, I think Reuben’s one of those players who, when he’s out for two weeks and not been training, you can see he hasn’t trained,” said John.

“He’s only trained one day, but he’s an important player. The game won’t do him any harm."
