Staying Grounded
3rd May 2015
THE Green Army can dream all they like now that the Pilgrims are confirmed Sky Bet League 2 play-off participants, but John Sheridan knows that success depends on his players staying rooted.
Argyle face Wycombe Wanderers over two legs – at Home Park next Saturday, May 9 and Adams Park on Thursday, May 14 – with the winners playing off against Stevenage or Southend United at Wembley for the right to play in League 1 next season.
“I’m all about winning,” said John. “I want to be successful. I want to get the team out of this division as quickly as possible.
“I get stick when we get beat and I get a few plaudits when we are winning. That is part and parcel of being a manager. I don’t change too much; I don’t get carried away; I’m just hoping we are successful for everyone involved.
“We have had brilliant support. I know what the supporters want and, believe me, I want it as much as them. We have just given them a bit of hope; we have got two really tough games and a great opportunity of getting to Wembley. It’s a great day out for supporters.
“Everyone would love that, but we’ll stay focused because we haven’t achieved anything yet.”
