Derek's Shining Light

REUBEN Reid was the “shining light” for Argyle during their 2-0 victory over Notts County, according to his manager.

The striker netted both goals in a hard-fought victory that took the Greens three points clear at the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table. After controlling expertly and smashing a strike home after 18 minutes, he put the match beyond doubt with three minutes to go – his fourth and fifth strikes of the campaign.

Reuben did everything but score in the previous victory over Exeter City, and has had a number of other stand-out displays that have made his boss believe the striker is getting closer and closer to his best form and fitness.

“He’s played really well today - I said to him at half-time,” said Derek. "He was the one that was a shining light for us today, and I thought he took his goals really well.

“He’s unfortunate not to get a hat-trick today. I thought last week he did really well, and I thought today he was excellent, as well.

“He’s got a wee bit of power about him just now. He’s shown he’s quick, he’s strong, he’s a great finisher, and we’ve got players in our team that find him.”
