Argyle v Barnet - Pilgrim Punting
29th September 2015
WHEN Barnet take to the Home Park field on Tuesday they will arrive as the team with the worst away record in the whole of the Football League...
...but is the result as predictable as we may expect?
Argyle have drawn their last two games, but before that, the Pilgrims hadn’t drawn a match since April 14 - five months ago. Another draw on Tuesday night is valued at 5/2, whilst an Argyle win is 10/11, and a Barnet victory can get you odds of 3/1.
Argyle haven’t scored three goals in any of their last four fixtures, but will be favourites here. For Argyle to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 the price is 15/8. Given Barnet’s current away record, it would be understandable if the Bees came to Home Park with a defensive mind-set - fewer than 2.5 goals may be a clever bet at 8/11.
The 0-0 draw at Mansfield ended an impressive Argyle record, as the Pilgrims had scored in every fixture they played, including pre-season, from April 18 to September 26. Argyle not to score once again is 3/1, exactly one goal is 7/4, two goals is 5/2, three goals is 6/1, whilst four or more is 11/1.
Despite Saturday being goalless for the Pilgrims, Derek Adams won’t be too worried about where the goals are going to come from, with Jake Jervis already on five league goals this season. For Jervis to score in 90 minutes he is priced at 6/4, and so is his teammate Reuben Reid. Ryan Brunt was given his third league start of the season against Mansfield, and Brunt is 2/1 to score anytime.
That’s worth a punt, surely?
