Ruthless = More Goals
11th September 2015
ARGYLE welcome Penzance to Seale-Hayne for...
...the latest edition of Peninsula League action on Saturday and the mantra will be about being ruthless in front of goal.
The Pilgrims completely dominated Millbrook last weekend but managed only one goal in a narrow victory and, with Mousehole racing clear at the top of the table, points are everything.
Head Coach Kevin Nancekivell said: “We perhaps need to be a little more clinical around the box but the last game at Millbrook showed good patience, and we kept probing to get the winning goal."
“It’s not a case that we have a divine right to score a bagful against any team - you have to work hard for any goal. When we do create opportunities, we’re looking for all the boys to be clinical and ruthless in front of goal.
“I’ve said before that it’s too early to worry about league tables. We know Mousehole have made a strong start, but our focus is on developing the young players. The plan for this Argyle team is to nurture and grow young players.
“We have a mix of young pros, players from the Academy, and the Community Trust, and they are benefiting from playing regular adult football.
“It is a different challenge for us because every adult team in a competitive league will have players ranging from teenagers to those in their 30s, but our age group goes from 16 to 21.
"It’s a great learning opportunity for our lads against experienced opposition.”
