OUR come-from-behind Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory at Wimbledon has been nominated for the team-of-the-round prize.
We have been shortlisted for the award after overturning a 2-0 deficit in the first round of the tenth season of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy competition. Strikes from Jake Jervis, Ryan Brunt and Carl McHugh completed the 3-2 win.
Northampton Town and Morecambe have also been nominated for first-round honours.
Richard Mazurkiewicz, marketing manager for Johnstone’s Paint, said: “There were 16 entertaining ties in the first round of the tenth Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and some fantastic performances.
“For Plymouth to stay on the road to Wembley after being 2-0 down was a fantastic effort from the team and an excellent achievement.
“Plymouth, Northampton and Morecambe certainly deserve their place on the shortlist and it will be very interesting to see which way the judges go when deciding on the winner.”
The winning team is set to be selected by a panel of judges over the coming days and will receive a supply of Johnstone’s Paint to utilise on a club project, as well as a trophy.
Morecambe were shortlisted after seeing off Walsall, last year’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy finalists, 2-0, while Northampton also accounted for League 1 opposition by defeating Colchester 3-2.
Johnstone’s Paint has been bringing colour to the beautiful game since it began sponsoring the Football League Trophy in 2006.
