Argyle continued their climb up the Southern Section of the Football League Youth Alliance League with victory at Yeovil, making it six on the trot for Kevin Hodges' youngsters.

Alex Battle and Jack Calver scored the goals that confirmed Argyle, superiority, although Argyle will feel they ought to have been more comfortable than they were after Yeovil hit their solitary reply late his the game.

"We deserved to win but made it a little bit more difficult than it should have been  as we were the better side for most of the match," said Academy manager Hodges. "We could have kept the ball better but we are expecting more from the squad each game and was still a good result."

The Pilgrims had two good opportunities in the opening five minutes but Alex Battle and Jordan Bentley each failed to make the most of their chances.

It was no more than the visitors deserved when they finally took a 24th minute lead after good set play by Calver caused confusion in the home goalmouth leaving Battle to head home from close range at the far post.

Argyle doubled their lead, a minute later, when good build-up play ended with Calver firing low into the corner of the net from 25 yards.

Although well in control of the second half Argyle could not add to their tally, and were given a wake-up call five minutes from time when they lost possession to leave a home striker one-on-one with goalkeeper Michael Cooper to slot the ball home.
