Luton Town Under-18s 2 Argyle 1
10th April 2016
ARGYLE'S youngsters suffered their first defeat in three games after conceding twice in the first half in Bedfordshire.
A goal from Alex Battle early in the second half threatened to get the Pilgrims back in the game, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
"We took a while to get going and were much better in the second half,@ said Academy Manager Kevin Hodges, "but the damage had been done before half time."
The young Hatters had hit the Argyle post before they struck on 32 and 40 minutes and it was only a fine save by Michael Cooper that prevented the Greens from going in 3-0 down at the break.
Argyle took two minutes of the second half to pull a goal back as a defensive error let in Alex Battle to provide a fierce finish past the home goalkeeper.
The Pilgrims were convinced that they should have had a penalty on the hour as Aaron Goulty was scythed down in the area but the referee somehow ignored the visitors' appeals.
Goulty, who was making his full under-18s debut, only lasted a further three minutes after that tackle before Goege Tucker, also making his debut, replaced him.
Argyle: Michael Cooper, Harry Hodges, Sam Ryan (Michael Peck), Owen Jones Elliot Crawford, Jamil Roberts, Jack Calver, Tom Purrington, Aaron Goulty (George Tucker 63), Alex Fletcher, Alex Battle. Substitute: not used: Isaac Burdon.
