Peninsula Round-up - Bude and Wadebridge

ARGYLE made it five straight wins and five clean sheets with a battling 1-0 win at Bude Town on Wednesday night.

Jason Vincent scored the winner midway through the second half and the young Pilgrims will be hoping to extend the current run when Wadebridge visit Seale Hayne on Saturday.

“It was a really hard fought win and we knew what we were stepping into when playing Bude,” said Head Coach Kevin Nancekivell. “It was the physical test we expected and I’m very pleased with how we played on a difficult pitch against a team in form.

“We took charge of the game in the second half and deservedly got our goal. Jason Vincent scored on 66 minutes with a tidy finish and we had numerous chances to extend that lead.

“We move on to Wadebridge at home on Saturday and we’ve got to keep going now. The boys will get plenty of rest and recovery because we’ve got a Merit League game against Cheltenham and also Wadebridge, so we’ll be shuffling the team around.

“We’ve kept a clean sheet for five games in a row and when you do that, there is always a good chance of winning games. It’s great to be playing regularly again after the winter we had and especially when you have momentum going.”
