DEREK Adams thinks that Argyle could be the Leicester City of Sky Bet League 2.

One of the most compelling Premier League seasons in years has seen Leicester rise to the top, as football fans continue to look on in awe.

While perhaps not an over-achievement story of Leicester proportions, Argyle’s strong season, seeing the Pilgrims well into the promotion places with just over a third of the season remaining.

Leicester, meanwhile, are five points clear of their top-flight rivals, many of whom have resources far beyond those Claudio Ranieri has at his disposal.

“We are in a situation where we are trying to get out of the division,” said Argyle boss Adams. “We want to try and progress – yes. We are ahead of schedule - yes.

“We have overachieved but you look at Leicester City - they've overachieved as well.

“It’s not all about money.  There are a lot of other teams in this division that have got a lot more money to spend than we have, but we've done very well with the budget we have got.

“We've got a very good squad and we’d like to keep that in tact next season.”

Although promotion is the key aim for Derek and his side, he has not lost sight of the top spot in the division. Argyle were top of League 2 for many weeks, but now trail the in-form Northampton Town.

“We are looking to catch them,” said Derek. “There’s no doubt about it. We want to push on and try and get above them.

“That’s going to be the outlook from now to the end of the season. We've got 17 games to go and the players will have the hunger and the desire to win as many games as they can.”
