Peninsula Preview - Argyle v Liskeard

IT should be a tussle of young talent at Seale Hayne this weekend, as the Pilgrims welcome a talented young team from Liskeard for the next chapter in our Peninsula League journey.

The two sides are separated by just three points in the Division 1 West table and Liskeard have impressed this season with their enterprising brand of attacking football.

The Argyle objective, however, is all about three more points in our quest to catch the runaway leaders from Mousehole and set up a thrilling last few months to the campaign.

“By all accounts, Liskeard have got a very young side and this should be a youthful battle between two good teams,” said Head Coach Kevin Nancekivell. “They’ve got some good footballers at Liskeard, including Jarrad Woods, who spent time at Argyle as a youngster.

“Like any team, Liskeard will really fancy taking on Plymouth Argyle and that is a scenario our lads have got used to because every team we face would love to take the scalp of a professional club. We know what to expect and the players are ready for the challenge.

“Our ambitions remain to close the gap on leaders Mousehole and that means three points are essential against Liskeard because they are a long way ahead at the top.”
