WITH two pre-season games ticked off for Argyle's pre-season regime, Derek Adams can see which areas of his side are shaping up nicely - and some areas that can be further improved.
Adams gave 18 different players time on the pitch during the Greens' 7-2 victory over Tavistock AFC, as he begins to form an idea of how his starting eleven will look come the opening game of the 2016-17 campaign on August 6.
Plenty of summer business from the boss has provided some exciting options in many areas of the field for him to choose from, but his recruitment work is not over yet, as he aims to bring in more signings to sure up the engine room of his side.
"We've got four centre backs," started Derek, "we've got two left backs in [Gary] Sawyer and [Ben] Purrington, we've potentially got two right backs in [Gary] Miller and [Oscar] Threlkeld, so we've got good cover in that area. We've got four strikers - five strikers if you include [Louis] Rooney.
"We're still on the lookout for midfield players and it's just taking a bit of time. We want to add the right people to the squad. I think that we have to get a couple of them in; probably more central than anything else."
Any more dealings may well be dictated by the performances of trialists during pre-season games, and Adams has not ruled out the possibility of trialists joining the club permanently, including the two that played for Argyle against St Blazey on Saturday.
"They were only here until Saturday," said Derek. "I've got a number of other people to look at and options to look at, so I'm not going to make my mind up just yet. I've got time to do that."
