Fixtures 2016-17 - Happy Holidays
22nd June 2016
THE traditional Boxing Day fixture for Argyle in the 2016-17 Sky Bet League Two will be played at Home Park against Wycombe Wanderers.
Derek Adams' side host the Chairboys’ on Monday, December 26, a week after visiting Accrington Stanley. Following the Boxing Day game, the usual quick turn-around will see the Greens then host Crawley Town on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31.
Following that and the New Year's celebrations, Argyle's first match of 2017 is away to Barnet on Monday, January 2. The Pilgrims' clutch of games over the festive period last season are fondly remembered; they defeated Yeovil Town on Boxing Day before a 2-1 win away to Newport County two days later, and then a 2-0 win over Carlisle United at Ewood Park.
Meanwhile, the Easter period for 2017 begins in the middle of April, meaning a possible Good Friday game at Portsmouth on April 14, followed by a home match against Newport County on Easter Monday, April 17.
As for other games played away from a Saturday afternoon, the Greens currently have six midweek games slated for both home and away this season, beginning with a visit to John Sheridan’s Notts County on Tuesday, August 16. Derek Adams and his side will also play evening games away from the Theatre of Greens against Leyton Orient on Tuesday, September 27 and Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday, March 14.
The three teams who will play under the lights at Home Park are Barnet, on Tuesday, November 22; Leyton, again, on Tuesday, February 14; and Notts County, again, a fortnight later, on Tuesday, February 28.
All fixtures are subject to confirmation.
