Peninsula Promotion

PLYMOUTH Argyle have won promotion to the Peninsula League Premier Division after coming from behind to win 3-1 at St Dennis.

The Pilgrims conceded the opener to a powerful header in the first-half but the youngsters responded with the sort of grit and determination that has seen them thrive in a highly competitive division.

Callum Hall grabbed a deserved equaliser after the break and then Jack Calver confidently slotted in a penalty to give Argyle the lead, with Alex Fletcher rounding off an excellent victory.

“I’m really pleased for the lads and they’ve worked very hard for this,” said Head Coach Kevin Nancekivell. “It is tough for these youngsters to play in a physical adult league and they deserve all the praise.

“Argyle Community Trust Manager Mark Lovell has been terrific in organising things behind the scenes and we’re already looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Premier Division.”
