Peninsula Report - Callington 1 Argyle 0

A SPECIAL evening under the lights at Callington Town and the home side prevailed with a delightful winner just four minutes before the end of a tight match.

Argyle possibly lacked their normal fluency but that was largely down to a well-organised and disciplined display from the hosts in front of their largest crowd of the season.

A draw looked like a fair result and both sides probably would have accepted that outcome but Callington pinched the points when a super free-kick was met by a towering header from Matt Thackeray to send the home crowd wild with excitement.

The result leaves Argyle three points behind leaders Saltash, who also have games in hand on the Pilgrims, while Callington are settling nicely into mid-table safety.
