Carey Wins Goal of the Month
16th September 2016
GRAHAM Carey goes into his fourth Devon Expressway Derby on Saturday on the wave of yet another accolade.
Argyle’s Player of the Season in 2015-16 received plenty of other recognition for his contribution to the Pilgrims’ last campaign as fans voted his goals and performances best in class in a number of polls.
Now the club’s leading scorer this season has seen the second of his two strikes against Mansfield Town in August voted Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month.
Graham said: “It’s always pleasing to be recognised and appreciated by supporters.
“I enjoy scoring but I enjoy winning more and it doesn’t matter who scores the goals as long as the team is successful.”
Argyle manager Derek Adams paid tribute to the Irish midfielder, who he signed from Ross County in the summer of 2015.
“Graham has been exceptional for me since he came to the football club,” he said.
“He is a creative player that we like to have around the football club. We have a number of them in the squad that can do something different. He has scored three goals already this season and I’m sure he’ll do well again.”
Looking forward to Saturday’s game, Derek said: “You have to perform on the big stage. Graham has done that before and hopefully he can do that again.”
