Cheltenham Under 18s 2 Plymouth Argyle 2
Argyle's youngsters are still awaiting their first victory of the season, in the EFL Youth Alliance League, after Alex Fletcher's last minute equaliser earned them their fifth consecutive draw.
In the hours before Cheltenham's first team visited Home Park, Kevin Hodges' Academy side made the opposite journey, and fell two goals behind to the Gloucestershire side. Cameron Sangster scored with ten minutes to give Argyle a lifeline, before Fletcher's last-ditch leveller.
"We had plenty of chances to score in the first half," said Hodges, "but we were caught on the counter-attack as Cheltenham took the lead against the run-of-play.
"We were defending up the slope in the first half and began the second period well but once again they caught us on the break to make it 2-0. We lost our way a little at this stage but, all credit to the lads, they came back strongly and overall we deserved at least a point. The boys showed a fine fighting spirit."
This was a young Argyle side which had only three second year apprentices in the starting line-up in Dan Rooney, Jordan Bentley and Alex Fletcher.
The Robins struck after just eight minutes and were two goals ahead on 57 minutes when Bentley was penalised for a tackle in the area.
Argyle came back strongly in the latter stages, deservedly pulling a goal back on 80 minutes when Cameron Sangster lashed the ball into the roof of the home goal.
The game had entered stoppage time when Fletcher swivelled sharply in the area and sent a low drive flying past the home goalkeeper to keep his side's unbeaten record alive.
Argyle: Max Childs, Tom Purrington, Harry Downing, Jordan Bentley, Ryan Law, Sam Morgan, Cameron Sangster, Dan Rooney, Luke Jephcott, Alex Fletcher, Rio Garside (Michael Peck).
