Officially Gavin

GAVIN Ward will be the referee when Argyle meet Hartlepool United on Saturday at Home Park.

Gavin's first game in charge of Argyle was in February 2008, when the Pilgrims memorably won 2-0 at Southampton. Ward was not on duty with the Pilgrims again for nearly five years, when he was the man in the middle for a 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers.

He was then the official - and awarded a penalty - when we beat Tranmere 3-2 in the final home game of the 2014-15 season, effectively securing our place in the play-offs. Last season, Gavin was the referee for his fourth and most recent Argyle fixture, as we lost 1-0 at Barnet.

This season, Gavin has shown 33 yellow cards in his ten games, using his red just once. The previous season he sent off just two players in a 35-game season. Curiously, his last three dismissals have all been straight reds, for the away team, in the first half.
