Peninsular Report - Ivybridge 1 Argyle 2

PLYMOUTH Argyle were made to work very hard before recording an opening win in the Peninsula season against a committed Ivybridge display.

The Pilgrims controlled possession in the first period but found the Ivies impregnable, and the tactics from home boss Nicky Marker seemed to be working perfectly when a threaded pass from Todd Hanrahan found Joe Truelove for a super finish in the top corner.

Head coach Kevin Nancekivell regrouped his Argyle troops at the interval and the message to be more penetrative worked within 15 minutes of the restart, as the excellent Dan Rooney cut inside from the left and rifled a crisp finish in the bottom corner.

The game was won with 20 minutes on the clock, as first-year pro Alex Fletcher made the perfect scoring start to his campaign by rounding the home goalkeeper and forcing the ball over the line.
