ARGYLE boss Derek Adams believes that two of his midfielders have been central to Argyle’s success so far this season.

Yann Songo’o has been ever-present for the Pilgrims in Sky Bet League Two, playing most of his football in a defensive midfield role. He has typically been joined by David Fox, who has started 21 of the Pilgrims’ last 23 EFL games in the engine room.

The pair have been instrumental in many an Argyle victory this season, including on Saturday, when Fox played just in front of Songo’o in a 3-0 win against Exeter City.

“[Fox] keeps the ball and is good in possession,” said Derek. “I think Yann Songo’o has been a great help for him because in a defensive point of view, Yann is very physical and he is able to win the headers and make tackles.

“David is one that will keep possession of the ball and has an experience head. He has done really well for us.

“He’s got a very good pass completion which you need at this level and all the players on Saturday were very high on that.

“Him and Yann have been pivotal in our success. If you look at David, he always takes a touch and gives himself extra time and Yann is very competitive defensively and it helps the two centre halves.”
