Officially Simon

SIMON Hooper will be in charge of Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two Devon Derby at Home Park.

Simon’s first game in the EFL came in 2008, officiating today’s rivals Exeter at St James Park. He has since officiated across all of the top flight English leagues, including the Premier League, and more regularly, Championship fixtures.

Simon has been the man in the middle for 28 games this season, including Argyle’s EFL Cup defeat away at Reading. The experienced referee has dished out 98 yellow cards this season, but only a single red.

There have been nine previous occasions where Simon has officiated the Greens, during which he has sent off, at various times, Darcy Blake, Robbie Williams and Conor Hourihane. Curiously, though, he has not cautioned an Argyle player in his last three games involving them. The last Pilgrim he booked, in August 2012 against Aldershot, was Paul Wotton.

His last game in charge at Home Park came in the Green’s 2-1 over Barnet last season. Graham Carey and Jake Jervis were on the score sheet that day.
