Argyle Under 18s 6 Yeovil Town 0

A SECOND-half hat-trick from Alex Battle helped Argyle's youngsters finish their EFL Youth Alliance fixtures in style.

Academy manager Kevin Hodges gave a debut to Adam Randell, but otherwise fielded one of his strongest sides for this must win game.

Argyle dominated the first half but Yeovil defended doggedly restricting the young Greens to just one goal, on the stroke of half time, but it was worthy of the wait.

Alex Fletcher took a long pass on his chest to expertly turn past his marker before blasting an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net from 15 yards.

Argyle required just 10 minutes of the second half to double their lead; Yeovil goalkeeper Neil Osborne was penalised for holding on to the ball for too long and Alex Battle made him pay by drilling his low free kick into the corner of the goal.

Defender Callum Rose showed skills not usually associated with a defender when he expertly controlled Josh Richards drive cross before firing home from the edge of the area for Argyle's third goal.

Yeovil crumbled in the last 10 minutes; first Dan Rooney hit a superb shot into the top corner of the net from 18 yards, before Battle completed his treble with far post shots in the last two minutes of the game.
