Jim Getting Closer
27th January 2017
THE return of Jimmy Spencer to Argyle’s first-team draws ever closer.
Jimmy has been out of the Argyle squad since November after a serious ankle injury suffered in training. Despite the setback, the influential striker has been working hard to regain fitness and, eventually, his place in the team.
“He’ll be back in February,” said manager Derek Adams. “I’m not sure of the time scale, if it’s going to be in the middle or to the end but he’s progressing well, he’s running now and he looks in good shape.”
Derek also gave an update on the injury to Ryan Brunt, after the forward’s knee injury suffered last March. Unfortunately for the 23-year-old, and all Pilgrims, Ryan’s road to recovery is not nearing its end just yet.
“Ryan is resting at this moment in time,” said Derek. “He’s had a setback and he’s not running at this moment in time. He’s had to rest for six weeks and now he’s got to get back to running again, which will probably happen again in the next week or so.
“It’s just pain; we don’t feel it’s anything to concern ourselves with. The consultant asked him to give it a rest. It’s nearly 10 months now [since the injury], it’s a long time and we’ve missed him in and around the squad.
“At the football club we’ve looked after him, he’s with us until the end of the season and the football club have been very supportive towards him.
“I think that he’s still got that opportunity. He just needs to get himself back running, and the quicker he does that and gets his game time under his belt, then there’s still a good possibility that would happen.”
