Taylor Made Pilgrim

ARGYLE have signed Ryan Taylor from Oxford United.

The 28-year-old forward becomes Derek Adams’ fourth signing of the January transfer window after he and Sky Bet League One mutually agreed to cancel his contract and he further bolsters the Pilgrims’ attacking options going into the crucial final part of their promotion challenge.

Ryan, who will wear the No. 19 shirt, has been a prominent player for Oxford this season, making 31 appearances. He joined United in the 2015 summer transfer window, playing 58 times in total, 21 of those appearances from the bench. He scored eight goals for the U’s.

Ryan started his career at Rotherham United, and played 134 games for his local side. In that time he scored 34 goals, two of which came in United’s League Two Play-Off final defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge at Wembley.

During his time at Rotherham, Ryan had two short loan spells – at Burton Albion and Exeter City – before a move to Championship club Bristol City in 2011.

In a search for more first-team football, Ryan headed to Portsmouth, for who he scored six goals in 18 games in his first season there, before grabbing 10 goals the following campaign, including one for Pompey against Argyle in a 2-1 Portsmouth win in April 2015.

Welcome to Home Park, Ryan.
