Argyle Battle Back - But Barnstaple Hold On
A YOUNG Argyle development team played their first pre-season friendly against Barnstaple Town F.C. at Mill Road last night – and almost pulled off a stunning recovery.
In the presence of a crowd of 550 people, Barnstaple bagged themselves three goals, to lead by a wide margin early in the second half. However, this did not dishearten the young Pilgrims who came back fighting and the improvement in play meant that Alex Battle was able to grab a brace and make the score 3-2.
The Greens could not find an equaliser, but it was an encouraging rally against a full-strength men’s Barnstaple side.
With a game of no injuries and a strong sense of perseverance from the players, it seems that the youth team have got their pre-season friendlies off to a promising start.
