Argyle 2 Godolphin 2 - Godolpin win on penalties

THE drama of penalties proved a cruel end to this season’s Peninsula Cup ambitions for Plymouth Argyle, as they succumbed to a mature display from Godolphin.

The visitors scored first with a deflected free-kick but the scores were level when Dan Rooney struck for the young Pilgrims, only for Godolphin to surge back in front on a tense afternoon at Coach Road.

Rooney was in impressive form and he forced extra time with a second leveller, but Godolphin defended stoutly for the final 30 minutes, and took their chance to progress by holding their nerve in the spot-kick lottery.
