Central League Result - Argyle 3 Cheltenham 2

ARGYLE survived an early second half lapse to assert their superiority with a victory at Home Park.

Alex Fletcher gave early an early lead after a long passing sequence found Ryan Law overlapping, with Fletcher supplying the final touch from Law's low cross.

Argyle dominated the half; Joel Grant had two efforts saved before the goal, and another not long afterwards, with the Pilgrims dominating possession, and sometimes being guilty of overplaying, when chances were on.

They were made to pay for profligacy as Cheltenham began the second half the brighter, and hit two quick goals. Forward Danny Wright prodded home at the second attempt after Argyle failed to clear a set-piece, and then the experienced target man produced a superb solo run to dance past defenders and slide the ball past Michael Cooper.

Stung, Argyle rallied, and equalised when strong right-wing work from Alex Battle saw him get to the bye-line to cross, then Fletcher turned home, showing excellent striking instinct.

Battle then got ono the scoresheet himself, being afforded too much space outside the area, and shooting into the corner from 20 yards.

Cheltenham, captained by former loan Pilgrim Jordon Forster, had a late rally, but Cooper kept out a chance on the whistle to give Argyle another Central League victory.

Argyle: Michael Cooper; Gary Miller, Yann Songo'o, Aaron Taylor-Sinclair; Ryan Law; Dan Rooney, Paul Paton, Cameron Sangster; Alex Battle, Alex Fletcher, Joel Grant.
