Quick Recovery

THE hectic Christmas schedule naturally takes its toll on tired bodies across professional football and Argyle will be checking on the fitness of a few players ahead of the trip to Burton Albion in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.

The Pilgrims took a few knocks in the Boxing Day defeat at Wimbledon and those players will be checked in training today, but striker Freddie Ladapo is looking ok after his minor problem sustained in the pre-Christmas loss to Accrington.

Jamie Ness and Conor Grant are definite absentees for the Burton trip, but the injury picture is generally looking a little brighter for Argyle.

“It was about recovering yesterday, training again today and then travelling,” said manager Derek Adams. “We’ve been to London and now we’re going to Birmingham, so it’s not been the easiest schedule for us.

“He [Ladapo] is fine but we’ve got a few issues with a couple of players to assess before tomorrow. They [Conor Grant and Jamie Ness] are still out and won't be back until after the Oxford game [on New Year’s Day].

“We’re slowly getting our injured players back but, because of the quick turnaround, we’ve got to find out who we’ve got ready for the game on Saturday.”
