Grant Backgrounder

NEVER before have Argyle fielded a side containing three players with the same surname, but that could happen in 2018-19 following Peter Grant's arrival at Home Park.

The 24-year-old defender from Bellshill in Scotland will compete for a place in Derek Adams' starting line-up with, amongst others, forward Joel Grant and midfielder Conor Grant.

Peter, son of Celtic legend Peter Grant, began his youth career at Norwich City where his father was a player and manager. He also played for Thorpe Rovers during his time there.

When his father departed Carrow Road, Peter had a trial with Watford before joining Peteborough United for the rest of his youth career, going on to captain the youth team, before signing a professional contract in 2013.

He was loaned out to Thurrock in the 2011-12 season and Histon at the start of the 2013-14 season before returning to Peterborough, for who he did not make a first-team appearance before being released at the end of the 2013-14 season.

He signed for Scottish Championship club Falkirk in June 2014 and went on to play 120 times for the Bairns, scoring nine times, including, memorably, in the 2015 Scottish Cup Final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
